The Fred Gibbs Mentor of the Year Award, given by BG Consultants, Inc., has been created to recognize an individual who has provided exemplary mentorship and dedication to new interns, and seasoned and advanced professionals. This individual excels at the support of career development and advancement of the level of services provided through our firm. They have an extraordinary dedication to the development of others and the furtherance of their careers and education. This award will recognize and set forth mentorship behaviors that have inspired, encouraged, challenged, and empowered others to achieve professional excellence.

BG Consultants, Inc. created the Fred Gibbs Mentor of the Year Award in 2022, to honor Mr. Fred Gibbs for his exceptional dedication to our firm and the development of the professionals who join our team. His dedication is not only for the benefit of the firm but also for a genuine care and concern for each individual’s professional development. 
Fred co-founded our firm almost 50 years ago and has continued to pour his energy and efforts into everyone he encounters in his daily business practices. His efforts have contributed to our firm’s success and longevity year after year and through many ups and downs in the economy, municipalities, and regions our offices have occupied. 

Fred has demonstrated his mastery of survey sciences and has shared his passion for such with numerous professionals who have joined our team over the years. Without his hands-on, side-by-side mentorship with each person on his team, not only our survey department but our firm as a whole would not be the flourishing business that it is today. Fred continually strives for excellence in his work and demands the same from his colleagues. This dedication and tenacious attention to detail spills over to those around him in an almost infectious manner which elevates the bar to which an individual holds themselves accountable. His ability to stretch an individual past their perceived limits without discouraging them is a true gift that has helped to develop many leaders within our firm.  Mr. Gibbs has supported the BG Consultants’ vision, mission, guiding principles, and values with his relentless dedication and mentorship over the last 45-plus years, and for that, we are eternally grateful. Future mentors within our firm have a high bar to reach for, but with Fred’s legacy and continued mentorship, the sky is the limit.

Future Award recipients will share the character and mentorship traits that personify Fred’s legacy as they guide and instruct others at BG to strive for professional excellence, professional achievement and high performance.  The award will be presented yearly to a BG employee that demonstrates the mentorship qualities the Fred Gibbs Mentor of the Year Award promotes, is nominated by a BG peer, and is deemed worthy by the BG Consultants, Inc. Board of Directors.
