Together with HTK Architects and the Kansas National Guard, a groundbreaking, cutting-edge $18.7 million headquarters in Topeka was designed and constructed. This visionary project represents a critical investment in modernizing infrastructure to better serve the Guard’s dual mission: safeguarding Kansas communities and contributing to national defense.
Site development included the installation of 3,000 SY of asphaltic pavement, a new generator and alternator pad, 70 parking spaces, executive parking, stairs, 6,200 SF of sidewalk, and retaining walls. Over 6.2 acres of land were regraded to meet drainage requirements, and over 6,000 CY of earthwork, contaminated with existing jet fuel, were carefully land farmed to meet environmental safety standards.
The groundbreaking ceremony was a landmark event, with distinguished leaders U.S. Senator Jerry Moran and Major General David Weishaar, Adjutant General of Kansas, directly involved in its coordination. Their leadership and vision underscored the project’s importance to both state and national priorities.The new headquarters provides state-of-the-art facilities designed for strategic planning, resource management, and seamless communication among leadership teams. The immense coordination and collaborative effort behind this project have resulted in an enduring commitment to empowering Kansas servicemen and women with the tools and infrastructure they need to excel.
